The in-force technology days take place nationwide in September, October and November, and feature presentations on all areas of Digital Forensics.
Demonstrations of Cyan Forensics’ 20x faster digital forensics triage tools will be available.
Triage and Digital Forensic Strategy
With increasing numbers of digital devices submitted for evidence, good triage techniques offer the potential to sift rapidly and reduce the number of devices subjected to a full examination.
Used properly, triage can reduce risk and costs associated with investigations, as well as addressing shortages of digital forensics capacity. However, poorly conducted triage can miss important evidence and increase risks.
In addition to looking at emerging tools and techniques for triage, Bruce will explore:
- How can triage be used most effectively?
- How do triage techniques fit into the overall Digital Forensic Strategy?
- When are triage techniques most appropriately used, and when are they inappropriate?
- When should triage be used on-site, through a kiosk, and as a means of prioritisation in the lab?
Bruce is Cyan Forensics’ technical architect and industry expert.
Bruce spent 10 years as a police Digital Forensic Analyst, and speaks from personal experience across a huge range of investigations in a rapidly changing technology landscape.
Bruce has also contributed to academic research on new forensic techniques, and is now Chief Technology Officer for Cyan Forensics, where he leads development of a new generation of triage tools. Bruce has a MSc in Advanced Security and Digital Forensics, as well as a background in commercial software development.
